EVENTS Events for 2009 and 2010
Greenbank RSL Services Club PINK PROMOTION Greenbank RSL Club in Anzac Ave Hill Crest, Brisbane, are in the second year of thier PINK Promotion. New members to the RSL will be able to sign up for a PINK membership that entitles the holder to fabulous privledges at the Club as well as discounts by the sponsors. $5 from every PINK membership will be donated to BCAQ. In 2007 Greenbank RSL donated an amazing $50,000 to BCAQ in 2008 donated another $25,000 was received in May . This donation substantially contributed to the placement of our 4th Breast Care Nurse in the Fraser Coast District plus allows us to maintain and grow our breast cancer services throughout Queensland. If you live in the Greenbank RSL area, please support this wonderful initiative! The BCAQ would like to thank Greenbank RSL for supporting Breast Cancer Association of Queensland.

Each year a Family Picnic Race day is organised by our fundraising co-ordinator, Sandy Cassidy and for the past 5 years Esk Jockey Club have hosted this event. The 2009 Esk Race Day was held on Saturday 16th May, 2009. We would like to thank our race sponsors for making this event so successful: our Bronze Sponsors: Warner Vet, Ray White Rural and Bunnings Browns Plains for donating prizes for the auction and raffles. Esk Jockey Club are keen to make this event bigger and better. It is a fantastic day out in the Esk Shire and Brisbane Valley Region. Esk is only approximately 1.5hrs drive from Brisbane, and has steadily grown into a popular day out for the whole family. In 2010 the Esk Races will be held on Saturday 17th April. If you would like to sponsor a race, donate auction items or bring a group please contact our office for more details! If you would like to host a fundraising event, please contact Sandy Cassidy our fundraising co-ordinator PH: 3666 0614 Emerald Annual Dinner The extremely hard working and enthusiastic Emerald Sub-committee will host thier Annual Breast Cancer Dinner on Saturday 8th August, which will be used for the benefit of breast cancer patients in Emerald and surrounding districts. Fundraising initiatives from the sub-committee have resulted in the appointment of Rural Breast Care Nurse - Belinda Ellen. This sub-committee have been able to provide financial assistance to the women and thier families in the district to assist with the cost of treatment associated with thier diagnosis. Charleville Subcommittee - Mulga Matron Ball The newly formed Charleville Subcommittee have organised thier first formal dinner. The Mulga Matrons Ball will be held in Charleville on Saturday 29th August 2009. Julia Leeds and her hard working subcommittee would welcome all supporters to attend this fabulous event. The Annual Christmas Luncheon is always a popular and exciting event to share with family and friends. Come and celebrate Christmas in style at Hillstone St Lucia. This years event will be on Thursday 12th November 2009, starting at 11am come and enjoy a champagne on the terrace over looking the stunning golf course whilst listening to Bzazz Ladies Jazz Band. Some of the Bzazz ladies have been effected by breast cancer and we are pleased that they are coming to entertain our guests again. We also welcome back Kay McGrath to be our host for the day.
Table's can be set for 8 - 12 guests and tickets will be available from September for a delicious two course lunch (including wine). It is a fabulous day out and a terrific way to celebrate and support breast cancer sufferers. If you would like to have your staff get together, why not have it with us. Each year a seminar is held in a different rural or regional town through out Queensland. We will be visiting Kingaroy on Saturday 18th July, 2009. In 2008 BCAQ visited Charleville on Saturday 21st June. Specialists in various related fields speak about the many aspects of breast cancer from diagnosis to surgery, diets and prosthesis and other topics such as lymphoedema, palliative care and well being programs. Cost is just $10 which covers lunch and refreshments, please contact our office if you would like to come along.
