A group of women focused on “MAKING A DIFFERENCE” to those women of our region who are affected by breast cancer, BCAQ Charleville and South-West was formed in early 2009.
Members come from Cunnamulla, Mitchell, Morven, Augathella, Charleville, Cooladdi, Quilpie, Windorah and Thargomindah.
Geography and the distribution of health services within Queensland often means that a diagnosis of breast cancer, in this region, also results in long and-or frequent absences from home, to undergo treatment for the disease. This disruption to family life and often separation from established support networks is an additional layer of stress for the woman and her family to cope with.
BCAQ Charleville and South-West intends, through its fundraising ventures, to offer assistance and support to women and their families at this difficult time.
- Funds will provide individual assistance to women for travel, accommodation, child-care, house cleaning or whatever is required on an individual basis.
Breast Care Nurses are the linchpin of the modern multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of breast cancer. They provide individual care for the woman, monitor and co-ordinate treatment and provide support for the woman and her family throughout a very difficult time.
- Funds raised will also be used to facilitate the role of breast care nurse for the region.
BCAQ Charleville and South-West is focused on ensuring the provision of care for women with breast cancer by supporting the role of Breast Care Nurse for the south-west.

The inaugural Mulga Matrons Ball 2009 is being held to raise funds
to employ a Breast Care Nurse in south-west Queensland.
The Ball is to be held on Saturday 29th August
at the Charleville Racecourse Complex.
